Is Space Exploration Worth the Money?
By Jeyprasath Mohanaroo (Year 9)
What is space exploration? Space exploration is the discovery of space. In my opinion, space exploration is not a worthwhile investment. Let me explain why.
Firstly, according to NASA (National Aeronautics Space Administration), the budget for space exploration is about $17.5 billion. With that amount of money, we could solve the world’s crises!
Another significant point is that space exploration causes pollution and it’s risky. The Earth is already suffering from heavy pollution, we certainly don’t need more. It is too risky to travel through space: It may cause humans to be lost in space which most likely will lead to fatalities.
Some people may argue that there are many things to explore in space, It's the next giant leap for humankind...
However, according to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 95% of the world’s oceans and 99% of the oceans floor are unexplored. Why explore space when we haven’t completely explored our planet?
To conclude, in my humble opinion: space exploration is a waste of time, money and resources. Rather than exploring space, let’s solve and cure the crises here on earth.
